Global Custodian Bank Ratings

A Global Custodian Rating is commissioned by the bank that requires an independent and objective assessment of its capabilities and includes an "on the ground" operational review by Thomas Murray's analysts. The rating is an indicator of the bank's ability to deliver core (and added value, where appropriate) custody services to its clients. The analysis is based on the terms and service levels offered to the "average client" of the custodian bank, or the standard custody terms and services generally offered to all its customers generally. The rated bank determines whether the rating is maintained on a public or confidential basis.

The rating typically covers the core custody activities of settlement, safekeeping, income collection, corporate actions, corporate governance, tax, cash management/foreign exchange, active cash management and securities lending. In addition to these activities, the rating also assesses the bank's credentials, internal operations (operational reporting and systems, network management, relationship management) and risks (financial, asset safety, asset servicing and operational) allowing an overall global custodian rating to be determined.
