Mexico Capital Market Infrastructure Summary

The Mexican securities market infrastructure is fairly streamlined, consisting of: Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV), the sole securities exchange; Mercado Mexicano de Derivados (Mex Der), the sole derivatives exchange; Instituto para el Deposito de Valores (INDEVAL); Banco de Mexico (central bank) operates two real-time payment systems, SIAC and SPEI. Contraparte Central de Valores (CCV) has acted as the central counterparty for all on-exchange equity trades since 4 February 2004. All infrastructure entities in Mexico are part of the BMV Group. Settlement of equity transactions has been harmonised with the settlement cycle of foreign equities (from 5 March 2007) to T+3, whereas government securities settle between TD and T+2.
